One week into the NFL season, the Eagles are in the odd position of alternately hoping that last year's results meant something and also hoping they meant very little. On one hand, they would certainly like to see the Nick Foles of 2013 at quarterback when the season continues in Indianapolis on Monday night.
Graham wasn't traded before or during the May draft, as expected. It probably didn't soothe his feelings any when the Eagles spent their first-round pick on a pass-rushing linebacker in Louisville's Marcus Smith.
The Philadelphia Eagles cruised to a 17-point victory at home against one of the league's worst teams from 2013. In reality, the victory was anything but easy for the Eagles, who fell behind 17-0 against the Jacksonville Jaguars before rallying for 34 unanswered points.
It may take several more games to declare the offense fine without Jackson - particularly when it faces more man-to-man defense - but if the first game was any indication of how the outside receivers will fare this season, the Eagles should be fine. Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper combined for just eight catches for 126 yards and a touchdown in the opener, but they were constantly open - Maclin, in particular - against the Jaguars' Cover 3-heavy zones.

The Eagles don't seem to be in any rush to get this year's first-round draft choice, linebacker Marcus Smith, on the field anytime soon. Sure, Smith dressed for Sunday's 34-17 season opening win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the Louisville product didn't see the field for a single snap.
The Philadelphia Eagles had a first half scare against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1. But the defense certainly did their part against an underwhelming and inexperienced opposing offense, . The coaching staff made adjustments after being down 17 in the first quarter, stifling Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne for the rest of the game.
"Fletcher played really well, real productive game out of him," said Chip Kelly . "Obviously was a real big problem for them in the run game.
The following Eagles are inactive for today's 1 p.m. game against the Jaguars: QB Matt Barkley , WR Josh Huff , RB Chris Polk , CB Jaylen Watkins , OL Matt Tobin , OL Dennis Kelly and DL Taylor Hart . With Polk sidelined , the Eagles go with only two true running backs: LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles .
Eagles head coach Chip Kelly spoke to the media after his team's 34-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Here's the full transcript: KELLY: Oh, God no.
Where did it all turn around for the Eagles in a 34-17 win over Jacksonville on Sunday at rockin' Lincoln Financial Field to open the 2014 season? Were there magic words spoken at halftime from head coach Chip Kelly? Did the leaders of the team gather together and rattle some helmets to wake the Eagles from a 17-0 fog? Or was it just getting back on the field, staring at the scoreboard and hearing the displeasure of the Eagles fans who could not believe how the first 30 minutes of the game played out? "Ooooh. To hear the boos in the first half, you're like, 'Man, here we go.
The running game's going to be good, and the offensive line should be able to hold up. Like everyone else, I'm expecting Zach Ertz to have a breakout season.
