Packers' McCarthy: Brett Favre's past is exactly that

Full story: St. Paul Pioneer Press

Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he would be doing a disservice to his players to discuss the past, particularly when questions surround a certain Minnesota Vikings quarterback.

The story line is about quarterbacks but this game will be decided by which defense performs the best. THe Pukers still haven't proven they can tame AD the Beast and this year they must deal with Harvin and Rice. Bernard B needs to get it done.
We need to terrorize Rodgers and control Jennings and Driver. Lets Roll!

Indyfan--so have you completely blanked out the 34-0 loss to the Packers in 2007? Other than that game, all have been close.

Jeez, take off the yellow jersey once in awhile. The dye must be affecting your brain. Oh that's right it matches the smell of cheese which hovers around you.

What I mean by "True Packer Fan" I am true to the team and no individual as many packer fans are. I am loyal to no other team like Indy fan is.

First and foremost it is a FOOTBALL GAME, it isn't life or death. It is only 1 game in a 16 game season. With the Packers going to play in a Stadium where not even the Vikings want to play in.(The Hump Dome) The same place where Mike Ditka said is was more like a roller rink.

Indy fan are you playing on the team or do you have a mouse in your pocket.(think about what I just wrote, you'll get it sometime)

I did notice that KNN copied an article from the Milwaukee Paper. Evidently they can't write their own.

May the team that plays the best win.

If it was a cheap shot why wasn't he fined. It's called football not table tennis..

He is no coach and neither is tt a general manager anyone can tell the way they operate but favre has finally got to the vikings and redemption is great go vikings

Here is the scoop

The Truth be told.

Never Saw This One Coming
By Dan O'Donnell
Story Created: May 18, 2009 at 3:20 PM CDT

Brett Favre played another season to "stick it to Ted Thompson." Well consider my mind blown. Next you'll tell me that the sun rose in the east this morning. Please don't, though--I'd doubt my poor heart could take any more shocking news.

While I recover from this latest Brett bombshell, let us ponder what precisely might be less surprising. That water is wet, perhaps? That dogs and cats don't much care for each other? Shocking. Truly shocking.

For at least the last two seasons of Favre's Packers tenure, it was painfully obvious that he and Thompson got along about as well as cats and dogs, with no fewer bite and scratch marks on their throats.

In the 2007 offseason, Favre wanted Randy Moss. Thompson drafted him Justin Harrell. In the 2008 offseason, Favre wanted Randy Moss. Thompson passed again, and Favre texted his intention to retire the next day. He was sticking it to Ted Thompson then! In what may have been the NFL's first spite retirement since Barry Sanders, Favre walked away from a Super Bowl contender because he didn't feel as if his GM actually wanted him to succeed.

Remember, the very first move Thompson made as the Packers' general manager was to draft Favre's eventual successor. Think that got the ol' spite train chugging out of the station? Thompson steadfastly refused to sign big-money (read: aging) free agents to give Favre one last run at a title, instead choosing to "plan for the long term" (read: without Favre).

Wouldn't you want it to stick it to the guy who was prepping for life without you the second he came into your life? Wouldn't you feel a little bit spiteful that you had given everything you had to an organization that was suddenly in the hands of someone who wanted to give you the bum's rush? Sure, Brett, we want to retire your number the very first regular season game...just stay the hell away from training camp.

Was Favre as culpable as Thompson in the mess that was the summer of 2008? Of course, in his own words he was "guilty of retiring early" and guilty of retiring to send a message to a guy who was completely unreceptive. Favre was guilty of thinking he was bigger than the organization and that his force of will and standing with Packer fans could bully the team into giving in to him. Thompson never broke, never even bent.

No, the ship sailed, and reputations and mutual respect between a legendary player and legendary organization followed it into the sunset. This latest "revelation" that Favre wanted to stick it to Thompson serves only to deepen that divide and once again leave fans saddened yet unsurprised.

The stool that Brett Favre used to sit on for interviews at Lambeau Field is stained with brown marks from his farts.
Clubhouse personnel are unable to scrub them out.

Wow! McCarthy is a real winner. He thinks talking about one of the greatst players to play the game and a guy who played 16 years in Green Bay is a disservice to his team? The guy changes the record books. Favre made the packers a winning team again after 29 years of losing. The disservice is to Favre because Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy can't face reality of the success not coming from them but from Favre.

I hope Favre has his usual Monday night Football monster game! It would be a disservice not to give McCarthy and team a real good butt kiickin'!

We all know the Vikings are going to kill my Packers. The Vikings are flawless team headed for a 16 - 0 record and a SB championship. We all saw what they did beating powerhouse Cleveland...Up and coming Detroit and absolutely destroying the hapless 49ers. Why oh why are they even playing the game??

You're feeling edgy as Mars moves into reverse, and it won't be long before people start to get on your nerves. You might get very irritated by someone's funny little habits, yet feel you daren't say anything in case you go overboard. Or you could get very annoyed when someone blurts out something that was supposed to be a secret but which quickly becomes common knowledge.
