Snyder Must Lead Redskins By Getting Out of the Way

Full story: The Washington Post

Of course Carlos Rogers is right when he says 'it starts with ownership.' It always does. The Steelers' success in Pittsburgh starts with Dan Rooney. The Red Sox' success in Boston starts with John Henry. The Clippers' incompetence in Los Angeles starts with Donald Sterling. Rogers's statement to reporters this week carries some shock value because players very rarely, if ever, include the owner in the list of reasons teams can't win. Usually, players limit any mention of ownership to thanking the man who signs the check. But I'd better not hear anybody suggest Rogers's reasoning is flawed because the issues confronting the Redskins absolutely start with ownership.

Amen. It was time to sell the team five years ago. It was time to sell the team when you ran Marty Schottenheimer out of town. It was time to sell the team when Joe Gibbs (a 3 time Super Bowl Champ) couldn barely get the team to a winning record. It was time to sell the team when a no name CB (Carlos Rogers) called you out. It was time to sell the team... NOW. The Redskins could bring in Chuck Noll, Bill Walsh, Jon Gruden, and Mike Holmgrem and they won't win a Super Bowl. Not until Snyder is uninvolved. You can't build a team around three big name players. It doesn't and will never work. You might as well sign T.O. if you are going with that philosophy. Your young QB will never get better if you threaten him with losing his starting job every off season. And how can you expect your coach to get anybody to follow him when you already have a list of replacements, 5 games into the season. Zorn might not be the greatest coach, and Campbell is not Peyton Manning, but no one can produce when they are constantly afraid of losing their job. Snyder's time at the top is over, if it ever began. Move out of the way and make some sacrifices or the 'Skins will never win again.

And when Lil Danny leaves , can he please take Vinny, Campbell and Portis with him ? Pleaseeee!!!!
These three are the pits of this football team - one is a pathetic scout, doesnt know the difference between a football and a goofball...one is a washed out diva, being paid megabucks to skip training, dress in drag (remember those early years) and run his mouth instead of his feet..and the last one, the less said the better...if Vinny selected him as a QB, they deserve each other.

Yeah I am all for addition by subtraction. I think they need to put Collins back into the starting lineup! And if Portis isn't going to produce like he is capable of, there is a more than willing back up in Ladell Betts.

I was a diehard Redskin fan for 35 years. I loved my Redskins. Dan Snyder ruined all that. I now spend my football Sunday's rooting for any opponent the team faces. He's too proud. He wants to run the team instead of hiring a general manager. Big mistake as you have seen over the years. The Skins always make a big splash in Feb. or March with a free agent or head coach signing that doesn't work out. It will happen again in 2010. Same old sad story. Dan Snyder let go and get a G.M. or eventually you'll lose the fanbase. Al Davis is losing his. Get rid of Vinnie Cerrato,Jason Campbell,Santana Moss and especially Clinton Portis...Hire a G.M.,get Russ Grimm as head coach and start all over with good solid draft picks and get smart players through free agency, guys like London Fletcher.

I agree. I am only 18 but I feel like it has been 35 years since the Redskins have put together a solid team for years in a row. Hearing how good they were from generations before me, I am so sad to hear how much Snyder has brought this storied franchise down. I cannot wait until he is run out of D.C. by the great, faithful fans that they have and start winning again. Fletcher is the perfect guy to build a team around but he will unfortunately be retired by the time Snyder let's go. I can only root on my team and hope for the best, but with each game it gets tougher and tougher.

Synder has got to decide to spend his money on a great G.M. and then step aside and let him do his work. Vinny Cerrato is a joke. All he has done his entire career with the Redskins is trade away draft picks and spend money on high priced over-rated vets. Look at the Philies and what they have accomplished in the last couple of years. It all started with hiring Pat Gillick as G.M. He built a solid base of young players and success has followed. Before Gillick, the Phillies couldn't win the division let alone a World Series. I'm telling you even before Zorn is gone (which needs to be soon) Vinny has to be shown the door. Don't let it hit you the arse on the way out Vinny!

I agree snyder needs to go, we have been horriable since he took over. The thing is just like any ceo or top dog they wants results now, but dont realize that it takes time to build a solid squad.
Look at the Colts they were not winning instantly when they got peyton manning it took them a couple of years. Jason Campbell is our quarter back of the future i still beleive in him. If you want to blame anyone blame those under performing receivers who haven't done squat, minus cooley and randle el. The coaches need to put some fire under there behinds. they need to bench santana moss and start randle el, moss and the offense has not played with any passion or urgency.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Cancer

If you have children at home they'll be really playful today and quite a handful at times. Encourage them to burn off all their energy during the day otherwise it will be a case of tears before bedtime. There could also be a fractious atmosphere between you and a loved one, and this will quickly escalate into a row if you aren't careful.
