What a great story about Michael Bedar. The Raw Food Diet is amazing and I am excited to get others eating this way as well.

I am the first to say don't eat, pre-packaged, thoroughly processed foods, or fast food, but why take it to the extreme of raw-vegan? That approach is just as full of opportunities for missing out on important nutrients -- and after awhile, it is BORING. Why not simply eat a balanced diet from all 4 food groups? You can buy local, be sustainable, and whip up wonderful meals in less than 30 minutes.
I say stop with ALL the extremees, including raw-vegan.

Make that raw organic or you'll be getting trace amounts of pesticide residues that interfere with the nervous system by design, in parts per billion.

There is no reason to eat raw veggies instead of cooked veggies. No scientific basis. Diet affects health? Of course. DIet affects diabetes? Of course. Don't eat crap? Of course. There was no appropriate control group for the diabetes study. Junk science. Hope my tax dollars were not involved.

Mr. Bedar has to have his work published in a peer reviewed scientific journal. Otherwise, the only conclusion that can be made is that this is about the level of snake oil.

The latest FAD. I think if we taught nutrition and the enjoyment of real food to the public we would be better off. It starts in the home. Fast food should not be considered real food. We need to change perceptions in this country.

.."and I'm excited to get others..."
Sounds like a cult do they serve grape kool aid?

"Vegetarians, and their Hezbollah-like splinter faction, the vegans, are a persistent irritant to any chef worth a damn. To me, life without veal stock, pork fat, sausage, organ meat, demi-glace, or even stinky cheese is a life not worth living. Vegetarians are the enemy of everything good and decent in the human spirit, and an affront to all I stand for, the pure enjoyment of food. The body, these waterheads imagine, is a temple that should not be polluted by animal protein. It's healthier, they insist, though every vegetarian waiter I've worked with is brought down by any rumor of a cold. Oh, I'll accommodate them, I'll rummage around for something to feed them, for a 'vegetarian plate', if called on to do so. Fourteen dollars for a few slices of grilled eggplant and zucchini suits my food cost fine."

Raw food...give me a break. I remember a terrible "raw-food" restaurant in Larkspur called Roxanne's. A total rip-off. I'd rather buy a bag of carrots for dinner than drop $100+ per person at that place.

Better yet: how about a hot-dog and slice of pizza on your way out of Costco. That's real food. That's American food. But I'll bet the obama-loving, prius-driving jerks in Marin want nothing to do with that, huh.

Forget Wooly Weeders, the sheep herds for hire who graze overgrown brush. I wanna hire a herd of hirsute Vegans to come munch on some overgrown brush here. Humm...I wonder how much methane a herd of hairy Vegans would emit?

So yeah, what's up with all the raw Vegan facial hair on men? Perhaps it hides their emmaciated features and wan complexion. I have yet to see an attractive healthy looking raw Vegan.

Thanks for reading and responding the article the IJ did which showed some of my work. I thought I might as well be on here in the middle of the commenting on the article. Would anybody like to state or ask something to move into a dialogue in relation to the article? The next few days will be a little busy, so my reply might be delayed, but I'll be happy to take in what you're saying, and if one comes to me, offer a reply. Thank you.

Hi Micheal, although it might not be in relation to the artical, I've got a few questions for You:
What's Your favourite color?
What's Your shoe size?
What's Your sign?

That's about all I can think of right now, but something else might pop-up.

Thanks.

I'm not a vegan but I love vegan food. The people posting who think it has no flavor are missing out. And I also believe most disease starts with your diet. Keep it up and I'm looking forward to seeing the movie.

"And I also believe most disease starts with your diet."
That's the problem--believing everything you think.
Of course diet affects the body and affects health, but what about child siblings (same diet) only one of whom gets cancer? Or develops type 1 diabetes? That would be a strong argument for factors other than diet. The effects of diet on diabetes symptoms are well-documented (especially type 2). Please--look for larger studies that undergo peer review. This is one (extreme and extremely unpractical) option.

I'm all about the organic, all natural food and I have to say as 20 year old college athlete I feel as if I'm in great shape and when I eat these kinds of food, RAW included, I feel really good. Although, I'm far from a vegan, I do believe incorporating raw food into your diet is quite beneficial.

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Sagittarius

You're in rather a downbeat mood, Sagittarius, and you definitely need cheering up. Unfortunately, it's heavy weather at the moment, as Mars slows and the cosmos rather disturbed, but later in the month is wonderful for you. Money problems are particularly difficult to deal with right now, because you can't help worrying about them. Now that prevents you seeing the best course of action to solve them. Relax, even miserable moods soon pass.
