I suffered from painful mouth ulcers for years. They were so uncomfortable that it was an agony to talk, and eating was a nightmare. They could last for up to two weeks at a time.
I tried many over-the-counter remedies, rinses, etc. Nothing provided true relief until I switched to Arm and Hammer Peroxicare toothpaste. The taste is a bit different than your typical Crest/mint toothpaste, but the dramatic change in comfort was well worth the change. I seldom get sores anymore, and if I do they are gone in a day or two, and never get so painful.

By trial and error over the years I have discovered aspirin, unbuffered vitamin C pills, and regular daily intake of foods high in vitamin C will invariably give me mouth ulcers

When I get the first signs of a mouth ulcer, I drink a 8 ounce glass of cultured buttermilk. The one ulcer is gone in a couple of days. It is usually a year or more before another ulcer starts appearing.

Hello,
I am responding to the person who suffers from mouth ulcers. I too have suffered with them since I was a small child and I am now 38. I recently found a product that has helped to reduce the pain and lessen the amount of time for the sores to heal. It's called canker cover manufactured by Quantum Health.

I am responding to the teen who suffers from mouth ulcers. I have a friend who also had the same problem and could find no relief. Doctors could not tell her what was wrong, or give her much relief. Needless to say she was miserable and found it difficult to eat.She searched the web and diagnosed herself with Dermatitis Herpetiformis. It is a form of celiac disease. She cut wheat out of her diet.(some people may need to go on a complete gluten-free diet) Her sores went away. She has continued on this diet and has been free of mouth sores for years. I hope this helps.

I have suffered from severe mouth ulcers my entire life - 47 years - many as big as a dime and lasting for 14 days. I tried everything and went to many doctors and dentists. 2 years ago, when my husband was diagnosed with cancer, I started taking a very low dose of anti-anxiety medication and coincidentally I have not had an ulcer since then. Even my co-workers have noticed the difference in my lack of ulcers. Also, before that time, I noticed that drinking coffee made fresh with ground beans gave me ulcers EVERY time. My dentist gave me a steroid paste that helped also. I believe it was called Kenalog.

Dr. Gott, I suffered as a child with mouth ulcers (canker sores), many at a time. My dentist did not know why I had them, my present gastroentrenologist does not know why I still have them, but I am trying to determine why by monitoring what I eat. I have come to the conclusion that when I am constipated, my mouth reacts wtih canker sores. There must be a direct coorelation between the digestion in my stomach and intestines and the canker sores. Fiber, fruit, and vegetables are a daily part of my menu, so when I am not passing my bowels easily, I drink more and more water, eat prunes and dates and that seems to take care of the sores.
