If a school wants to investigate a crime, then call the police and their parents, that is what the police are for. Why would a teacher want to get involved in something that could hinder the legal and civil rights of another? I am a teacher and soon to be a parent and would never want my child stripped searched without me being present and a police officer.

If the law makes it easier for children to bring contraband into their schools - it is the children who will suffer.

The school administrators look upon the police as the enemy and now look what happened. School administrators are not police officers and across the country there have been instances of outrageously poor judgement on the part of teachers dealing with students. If the teachers want to play Dragnet, join the force. (Gee I guess its good that they don't play doctor too or they probably would try to take out their own appendix.)

No one that works for the board of Ed. has the right to strip search a student or another person employed by the board of Ed.I find this totaly wrong and there should not have been a situation like this at all. Where will it end? If a principal has reason to believe that a teacher has a joint in her bra, will he make her take it off? I think not, she would sue the city for all they got.If I was to find out my son or daughter was stip searched I would sue every person that was in the room and knew about it. I hope the kids win a big fat lawsuit and the parent's handle the money correctlly so to secure there future. P.S. I wonder if body cavity searches will be mandatory for kids that steal food? Just a thought P.S.S. Ansonia board of ed members please disregard last comment, get youre own ideas.

The number of incidents happening at the secondary high schools and even AHS is out of control. I myself have legal cases I am considering to represent where parents feel the AHS system is deficient in many ways thus causing due harm to their student. I still have to file paper work on this small back-log which would appear to of favorable judgment just in terms of case law. The young adults of today simply need to have a positive direction in life that is reinforced from their primary training ground….home. Unfortunate statistics showing the at home family structure of the young adults in these secondary High schools and AHS are all part of the American make-up. With the demographics of Ansonia and the esthetics of it crumbling industrial appearance my interview with some of these students is simply…they want out…..there is nothing positive or visually appealing in the town of Ansonia as quoted. How can one young adult give back to a community that ignores its most outdated ways ?

I take offense to your comments I live in Ansonia and have kids in the school system I have had no problems with either child in all the years they have been in the school system and if there is a problem and I go to the school administration it is handled fine and they have been few problems and none would require an attorney. If these kids want to "get out" as you put it then tell them there is a highway going out of the town either way they are not chained to the town...

This is EOE at its best. Public schools are made up of Affirmative Action, Government employees. If you look at cases against public school systems nationally you would see this is not a small problem, it is a big one. Teachers, administrators, and education boards across America think they know better than the parents what a child or teenager needs. It is truly disconcerting at just how much public schools get away with on a daily basis. I scoff daily at how children in public schools are treated and how we parents think our children are doing great at school simply because they come home with good grades. American schools are falling further behind each and every year because we are allowing politicians (i.e. liars) to run our schools. It is time for parents to really wake up to what our education system is producing...poorly educated kids who cannot figure out how to think on their own. Good for the judges for going against what this school figured was the "right thing to do".

Unless you are criminal in jail, strip searching is absolutely unnecessary, especially for Ibuprofen and in the Ansonia case, seventy dollars! Honestly, who is going to hide seventy dollars in their body orifices? And would you want it back?

I can't believe there's not a criminal case attached to this. If my daughter was strip searched at school, particularly for something silly like ibuprofen, I would murder the principal and every single person involved with my bare hands.

Catherine Williams, Amy Fedigan & Jeanette Davidson have conducted multiple illegal searches of students. Based on gossip. I'm glad this happened in Ansonia, now these three pigs will fry this November.

Some one tipped the principal, a person who saw her with something under her clothes. Parents who defend bad behavior are going to visit that so called "child" in prison.Teacher won't do something like that without a reason believe me...!
