Uhhhh - OOOOOO
Dr. Mary Pickett hasn't read "The Honey Revolution" yet. In this book, Dr. Ron Fessenden claims that honey is the prefered medicine for diabetics. Is this putting the cat amongst the pidgeons, or what? |

I have had type 1 diabetes for 35 years which I developed when I was 3. When I was placed on the Humulin insulin (which isn't human) at 15, I had a horrible time controlling my sugars. Even while in the hospital during the change over it ran around 200. The human insulin (which isn't human) hits like a hammer and then is gone (no duration). I went back on the pork insulin when I was 30 and did much better. I didn't realize the pork insulin was still manufactured here (then). Elli Lilly lied when they told me they would continue making pork insulin. I had to go back on humulin insulin (which isn't human) and had a terrible time controlling my sugars. I am now importing pork insulin from Canada. It is very expensive but I don't care. It runs $124.00 a bottle and insurance will not pay. This insulin is made in Europe and is very beneficial to me. It is not perfect. I still have highs and lows from time to time but not nearly as bad. I went from 3-5 shots a day to just 2. I still have to watch what I eat and perform blood tests but I am doing much better. Elli Lilly should never have taken the pork insulin off of the market. I'm sure it is cheaper and easier to make the humulin insulin (which isn't human) but we as diabetics should have a choice. I'm sure a lot of diabetics are doing fine with the humulin insulin (which isn't human) but I don't and I'm sure there are a lot of people with diabetes who experienced what I did.
