The cops I deal with have the Porno mustache at the most.
Be aware. Be prepared. Drive to a well lit area without breaking the law. Call the dispatch center and let them know your fears. Get the plate number or a good description of the car and person if you can.

Hopefully this dirt-bag will pull someone over who will remember a license plate number or vehicle description. Or better yet, pull over an off duty cop.

I really wish ALL law enforcement agencies (police, sheriff and CHP) would publicly announce that they will only use fully marked cars (light bar on top, official paint job and decals) for traffic stops. Especially after dark. There are some areas of town where you might feel in just as much danger in a well lit parking lot as a dark alley, but at least you would be able to see if it was a regular police car. An unmarked car with no top light bar or paint job would be a signal to keep the doors locked and call 911. With the way things are now, I think I'd be calling dispatch to verify unless it was a fully decked out DPD vehicle.

Remember when the lady was murdered on the lawn of the Thornton Police Department?...She was escaping her abuser, with a friend who was also injured, and they did what most of us would do in such a situation...Not one Officer even heard the incident...
There was also a police impersonator in Ft. Collins (?) who ended up abducting, and killing another young woman...His vehicle had all the lights and sounds of a legitimate Law Enforcement vehicle, which was why she stopped when he pulled her over...Laws were changed then regarding the availibility of such vehicle accessories to the general public, but there's always the internet...

Your best bet is to drive straight into any Hospital Emergency Room area, where there's usually a guard present...Especially at night when most Police Departments are essientally closed to the public...Risking yourself by driving in an intense situation, while attampting to verify the Officer via cell phone is also quite dangerous...
Whatever you do, you have the legal right to question the validity of any Officer, without fear of prosecution...

I'm starting to think these impersonators are very very convincing and have the proper credentials.
They could be off duty cops for all we know.
Who else would have the knowledge to be so elusive?

The Denver Police Department District stations are open 24/7 despite what the person who answers the phone tells you.

I don't want to burst your bubble, but why would police officers who are off duty being doing something like this? When some one questions these guys it appears from the story that they drive off fast.
I know some officers in a couple of departments. They tell me they put the blinders on after a shift so they don't have to get involved. I can see their points when it comes to the stupidty of man and the endless calls police take to deal with problems.
