Group against widening I-70 says turning it into a boulevard better idea

Instead of widening Interstate 70 to stop traffic gridlock through Denver, one group proposes demolishing a stretch of the highway, turning it into a boulevard and diverting truck traffic around the city. Replacing highways with boulevards is an urban planning strategy that has been relied upon increasingly in big cities across the country, Denver City Auditor Dennis Gallagher said Saturday at a public forum at the McNichols Building in downtown Denver.
