Tele Columbus purchases network operator Big Medienversorgung

German fibre network operator Big Medienversorgung has been acquired by the country's third largest cable company, Tele Columbus. Currently serving around 12,700 homes in the areas of North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Wurttemberg and Berlin, Monchengladbach-based Big aims to boost its subscriber base to approximately 16,400 by the end of 2014, via its fibre-to-the-building network.

Top bosses of Chinese shoe firm Ultrasonic disappear with cash

Two of the most senior figures at Chinese footwear firm Ultrasonic - have disappeared and so has most of the firm's cash. Ultrasonic said in a statement that chief executive Qingyong Wu and chief operating officer Minghong Wu had been missing since the weekend, the BBC reports.

Landing Site Selected for Historic Comet Mission

The European Space Agency said Monday that it has selected the "head" of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko as the landing site for the Philae lander, which is now aboard its Rosetta spacecraft and recently arrived at the comet on a historic rendezvous mission. Site J is "an intriguing region on Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko that offers unique scientific potential, with hints of activity nearby, and minimum risk to the lander compared to the other candidate sites," the ESA said in a press release .
