What do I do in court for a "failure to reinstate" charge?
My license was suspended for a "first dui" offense in March 2013. Last week, I was pulled over for "failure to reinstate license". The 1 year suspension was over at the time of this recent arrest, but I had not reinstated my license yet (my fault). There were no additional charges and no previous DUS. The arresting officer advised that I reinstate my license before court, so I did that this week. I also had insurance, showed proof of insurance, and will bring proof of insurance and my newly compliant license to court tomorrow.
Among other worries regarding this ticket, I am worried about reaching 12 points on my record, 6 for the previous DUI and 6 for "failure to reinstate" (I assume). Should I plead "not guilty" so I can get a court appointed attorney and hope it gets amended?
I would hire a lawyer and a lawyer can help coordinate getting your license back and then getting a zero point offense...

There is no statute that prohibits a reduction of a high-tier OVI to a Reckless Operation. The prosecutor does however...
