The group Alliance for a Better Utah on Friday called on West Jordan City Councilman Jeff Haaga to resign and started an online petition with the same goal. On July 19, witnesses at the Black Sheep Bar & Grill, 1520 W. 9000 South, said Haaga was "obviously intoxicated" when he got into his car, backed into a parked vehicle and drove home, according to police reports. Comment?

Additional information about a West Jordan city councilman who was issued a ticket after leaving the scene of an accident July 19 reveal the local leader was having a bad day. Councilman Jeff Haaga, who was ticketed but not arrested by South Jordan police after officers responded to a hit-and-run call, had "five steins of beer and a shot" in his system when police found him between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. MDT, according to a second police report obtained by KSL TV. Comment?

A man who was shot and wounded by police filed a federal lawsuit Monday alleging the officer and jail staff left him wounded and bleeding in a cell. Timothy James Peterson, 33, is seeking unspecified damages and legal fees in the suit filed in U.S. District Court. Comment?

A Salt Lake man who was shot by a West Jordan police officer was charged Friday with shooting a man earlier that same evening. Andrew Jeorge Davison Thomas, 24, who uses the moniker "Korrupt," was charged in 3rd District Court with discharge of a firearm causing serious injury, a first-degree felony, and possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a second-degree felony. Another year will pass before competency will again be reviewed for the man charged with kidnapping, assaulting and killing 6-year-old Sierra Newbold in 2012. Terry Lee Black, who turned 45 this month, appeared briefly in court Thursday where 3rd District Judge Douglas Hogan said he remains incapable of facing the charges against him. Comment?

Despite making impressive strides in jail and promises he would never return to gang life, a judge on Friday said the young man's crimes were so heinous he had to send him to prison. In July 2015, Tyrel Maleek Foreman, who was 19 at the time, and two others tracked down a 16-year-old boy in a rival gang and shot him in the leg as he ran away. Comment?
