An 18-year-old District man on probation for a robbery conviction pleaded guilty Thursday to the Memorial Day weekend shooting of a 16-year-old girl in her leg near the Anacostia Metro Station. Demetri Goldsmith pleaded guilty in D.C. Superior Court to charges of assault with significant bodily injury and unlawful possession of a firearm in the May 29 shooting. Comment?

Seven people were shot early Saturday - two of them fatally - in one of the most violent nights in the District in weeks, according to police, breaking a 14-day stretch without a homicide. The shootings occurred in Northwest and Southeast Washington between 2 a.m and 4 a.m. Police released few details, and it could not be determined whether any were related. Comment?

A D.C. man pleaded guilty Friday to fatally shooting a man outside a library in Southeast Washington after his car was broken into, prosecutors said. At 4 p.m. Feb. 10, 23-year-old Maurico Walker of Northeast and another man were looking for unlocked car doors in the 2100 block of R Street SE, a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District said.
