Two armed, masked suspects robbed the Herkimer Road Fastrac at 4:05 a.m. While officers were investigating that crime, the same two suspects robbed a south Utica store at 4:32 a.m. Officers spotted a car on Lenox Avenue that was affiliated with the crime. 1 comment

A Utica man has been charged by Oneida County sheriff's deputies after police said he made "sexual gestures" to a person with disabilities. Harry B. Klampert, 23, of Utica, was charged today with first-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, a felony, deputies said. Comment?

Hundreds of mourners gathered behind the Word of Life Christian Church on Tuesday night to remember Lucas Leonard, pray for Christopher Leonard and call for the closure of a church that event organizers said put the town "on the map" for all the wrong reasons. The candlelight vigil and prayer service featured singers and speakers from the Utica area and lasted about an hour. Comment?

Daniel Irwin, a member of the Word of Life Christian Church, told a prosecutor Friday in court he saw Bruce Leonard strike both of his sons in the back several times with a belt at the end of Sunday services on Oct. 11. Daniel Irwin, brother of Joseph Irwin, who is facing assault charges, listed his home address at the church and was testifying against Bruce Leonard in a preliminary hearing. Joseph Irwin also appeared in New Hartford Town Court this afternoon. Comment?

A central New York man has been has convicted of the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old woman outside a bar a year ago last week. An Oneida County Court jury on Wednesday convicted 25-year-old Darnell Howard of Utica on charges that included second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
