  • Union man faces more charges -

    In a statement released this afternoon, Union County Sheriff David Taylor announced that Christopher Scott Austin, 28, 250 Old English Road, Union, is now charged with kidnapping and possession of crack cocaine in addition to the original charge of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Taylor said the additional charges are the result of further investigation by investigators with his office into the incident for which Austin was originally arrested and charged.

  • Deputies: Man with history of violence attacked gran...

    A Union man who deputies said was previously arrested for brutally beating a woman and holding her captive is back behind bars after deputies said he attacked his 67-year-old grandmother in her home on Arthur Boulevard. Deputies received an anonymous call around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning requesting a welfare check at a residence on Old English Road.

    Six weeks after he fled deputies trying to arrest him for allegedly beating, choking and holding a woman against her will a Union man ended up in jail Wednesday afternoon after being spotted in a parking lot on the Duncan Bypass. Christopher Deauntray Gist, 23, 120 Woodlawn Avenue, #1A, Union, is charged by the Union County Sheriff's Office with domestic violence first-degree, kidnapping, and resisting arrest.

  • Two charged in June burglary -

    Courtesy photo These are some of the $5,250 worth of stolen property recovered by the Union County Sheriff's Office during an ongoing investigation of the burglary a residence in the Jonesville area in late June. A total of $13,500 worth of property was stolen from the residence and $300 worth of damage done during the break-in.

  • Man charged with attempted murder -

    Deputies responded to Union Medical Center in regard to an armed robbery Thursday evening, resulting in two men being charged, one of whom was charged with attempted murder. Nathaniel Edward McAbee, 18, of 502 Drugstore Street, Buffalo, was charged with attempted murder and armed robbery around 3:30 a.m. July 8. Scott Charles Darling Jr., 27, of 925 Meansville Road, Union, was charged with obstructing justice and on a bench warrant around 3 a.m. July 8. According to the incident report, a deputy responded to Union Medical Center in regard to a robbery and assault which occurred in the Monarch area of Union County.

  • Man charged with assaulting deputy -

    Adam Wayne Fisher, 27, of 317 Linersville Road, Buffalo, was charged with petit larceny, aggravated assault and resisting arrest around 7:10 p.m. June 28. According to incident reports, deputies were attempting to arrest Fisher for outstanding warrants on Tuesday. Reports state Fisher stole a woman's personal check and driver's license.

  • Three charged in burglary -

    Three people have been arrested by the Union County Sheriff's Office in connection with the burglary of a home in the Buffalo Community in which more than $3,300 worth of property was stolen. In a statement released Friday afternoon, Sheriff David Taylor that on June 24 patrol deputies were dispatched to a residence on Ashton Brook Acres after the victim came home that morning to find his home had been burglarized.

What to do if I was hit by a drunk driver and they have no insurance?
I was hit by a drunk driver head on a couple of nights ago. My truck is not totaled but it has at least $8,000 worth in damage. Come to find out she has no insurance. I nor did she receive any injuries, I believe I have some whiplash but I am going to the doctor today for it because the symptoms just started coming up (3 days later). What can I do, I am at a loss. I have uninsured motorist coverage, but I know the insurance company's best interest is not me. What can I do? If I do get a lawyer, what can they do? I am at a loss!

Arrested for DWI in NC, refused the breath test and blood test came back as .16. Living in SC currently as well as at the time of the arrest. No grossly aggravating factors, 1 aggravating (.16), speeding was the reason for traffic stop but no reckless driving, clean driving record and have enrolled in SC ADSAP. Under the assumption this will be reported back to SC after conviction, what punishment will SC impose?
Generally there is a license suspension from state to state but I don't believe NC reports so you'll likely avoid that...
