STERLING – Two felons already facing weapons charges in Lee County and in Texas now face even more in Whiteside County. Manuel Estaban Espinosa, 41, and Julian Thomas Guillen, 27, both convicted felons from Texas, were arrested at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of West 19th Street in Rock Falls, where Espinosa now lives. DIXON – Police are looking for one man and have jailed another who they say were involved in an armed home invasion and beating late last month. Marcus A. Evans, 20, of Sterling is in Lee County Jail on $200,000 bond, charged with home invasion with injury, which carries 6 to 30 years in prison; residential burglary, which carries 4 to 15 years, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery with a mask or hoodie, each of which carries 2 to 5 years. ROCK FALLS – A 23-year-old man Sterling man is charged with two felonies for trying to run down a Rock Falls police officer with an SUV, the Illinois State Police said this morning. Corey G. Poff Jr. is in Whiteside County Jail on $100,000 bond, charged with aggravated assault of a police officer and aggravated fleeing, each punishable by 1 to 3 years in prison. Comment?

STERLING – A Rock Falls woman is in Whiteside County Jail after police say she pinned a relative between her Jeep and the relative's vehicle, then assaulted the relative's passenger Sunday evening at Dairy Queen. A news release sent out this morning said Megan B. Boss, 39, had a phone conversation with the relative, drove to Dairy Queen, 1203 W. Fourth Street, and struck the relative with her 2013 Jeep, pinning her. Comment?

DIXON – Attempted murder and other felony charges filed against a former Sterling elementary school teacher accused of attacking his boyfriend were dismissed today, his attorney said in a news release this afternoon. Mario Garnica Jr., 28, was a bilingual first-grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School when he stabbed his then-boyfriend, Benjamin B. Brainerd, in the neck and beat him Jan. 19, 2015, in Brainerd's Dixon home, prosecutors said. Comment?
