In October 2015, Reno and Sparks police saw an increase in commercial burglaries involving several people breaking windows to get in. The Regional Crime Suppression Unit , made up of detectives from the Reno and Sparks Police Departments, began investigating and reviewing security surveillance from several of the businesses. The Sparks Police Department says that Tuesday around 12:50 p.m. a resident in the 7500 block of Avila Drive in Sparks returned home to find it had been burglarized. Noticing an unfamiliar car in the area, the resident photographed the license plate and notified the police. Comment?

A 27-year-old ex-convict was sentenced to death Tuesday for killing five people in northern Nevada during a Mother's Day weekend murder spree in 2013. It was made official by Lyon County District Court Judge John Paul Schlegelmilch, who also imposed maximum consecutive penalties totaling 78 to 195 years for Bean's other convictions including arson, robbery, burglary, auto theft and theft using a firearm. Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detectives investigating the suspect in a series of vehicle thefts and vehicle burglaries that occurred earlier this year say the suspect specifically targeted unlocked vehicles. 21-year-old Ashton Spohn, of Sparks was arrested in in July of this year after Reno Police Department Officers say they spotted him driving a stolen vehicle in the area of US 395 and Oddie Boulevard. The Regional Transportation Commission on Thursday released video of bus windows that were shot out by pellet guns earlier this week, prompting passengers to take cover. "If you watch carefully, you can actually see the pellet penetrate the window on the right-hand side, and then the passengers duck for cover at about 0:13," RTC Public Information Officer Joe Harrington said by email. Lyon County Sheriff's officials say around 4:40p.m. Oct. 18, 2015 a Lyon County Sheriff's deputy initiated a traffic stop in the 300 block of Sandia Drive in Fernley. Officials say the driver was pulled over for suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence and when the deputy attempted to have the driver exit his vehicle the driver refused to comply and fled the scene. Andy Barron, a photographer for the Reno Gazette-Journal , was arrested Friday for two counts of battery with a deadly weapon after striking two Tesla employees with a Jeep he was driving, following an altercation with security guards at Tesla's Gigafactory, reports the RGJ . A post on Tesla's blog said two RGJ employees were at the Gigafactory taking pictures before the altercation. Comment?

Last Friday, a photojournalist for Nevada's Reno Gazette-Journal was arrested after an incident with guards from a private security firm who were keeping watch over Tesla's gigafactory construction site near Sparks, NV. According to the report from Reno Gazette-Journal, whom the photographer is employed by, Andy Barron was arrested and subsequently booked on a charge of battery with a deadly weapon. Comment?
