Daniel Franco got more than he bargained for when he tried to sell stolen game cards to Level Up Games in South St. Paul, prosecutors say. Franco, 27, of West Lakeland Township got a trip to the Dakota County Jail and a felony charge of receiving stolen property after a store employee knew the cards were stolen and called police. Comment?

The man accused of shooting and killing his wife at their home in Observatory Park while high on marijuana last year changed his plea Friday to not guilty by reason of insanity. Richard Kirk, 49, had pleaded not guilty in March but changed the plea during a court appearance Friday. Comment?

A Dakota County grand jury indicted a South St. Paul man Wednesday on charges of first-degree premeditated murder and second-degree intentional murder in connection with the stabbing death of a woman at his home in August. Thomas Michael Luby, 58, was arrested Aug. 7 and charged with second-degree murder after calling police to the 500 block of 9th Avenue S. and telling them he killed Kelly Ann Anderson, 45, also of South St. Paul. Comment?

A St. Paul man has been charged with burglary after police say the victim received a call coming from her own apartment's land line. Officers were called at 9:54 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, to the 1900 block of Parkwood Drive in South St. Paul. Comment?

Attempts to catch and arrest Lorenzo Max Martinez this month led to wild chases that could have been ripped from a movie script. Two officers spotted him just before 8:30 p.m. Aug. 8 in the area of Stryker Avenue and Page Street and cornered his stolen gray Ford Fusion in a parking lot behind an apartment building. Comment?
