Fire officials suspect arson in an early-morning four-alarm blaze that caused millions of dollars worth of damage after ravaging the Millbrae Community Center - a place residents called "the heart of the city." It took several hours to control the fire that was first reported just before 4 a.m. Thursday and completely destroyed the community center at 477 Lincoln Circle, said Central County Fire Chief John Kammeyer. A man and a woman were arrested for vehicle theft and identity theft after being located in a stolen vehicle in Milpitas on Wednesday. On July 13 at approximately 6:07 a.m., a Milpitas Police Officer located a silver 2015 Kia Optimal rental car parked in the parking lot of Walmart located at 301 Ranch Drive. Comment?

Supervisor John Avalos today announced his intention to mandate reforms to the Police Department's use of force policies by withholding a portion of the department's budget until reform metrics are met. The proposed budget amendment would hold $200 million of the budget on reserve, with its release dependent on positive quarterly reviews by the city. Comment?
