St. Charles police have arrested two 20-year-old men on charges they robbed a tobacco store Jan. 4 at gunpoint and knife point. Rayshawn Vonperbandt and Jacob M. Fahey, both of St. Charles, face up to 30 years in prison if convicted of felony armed robbery. Comment?

An Elgin man accused of financial exploitation of an elderly person avoided a possible prison term by accepting a plea deal that will have him serving two years of probation and paying nearly $17,000 in restitution, according to Kane County court records. Robert B. Plagemann, 53, of the 400 block of North Spring Street, was set to go on trial next week on felony charges that carried a penalty of up to 15 years in prison. Comment?

An off-duty Rosemont police officer shot and killed his brother-in-law following a domestic dispute Wednesday afternoon in Rosemont, officials said. The shooting took place just before noon near Lange Park near the intersection of Scott Street and Granville Avenue. Comment?

Estrada and Torres attacked a man who was in a parked car on Lincoln Avenue east of Spring Street Dec. 13. Estrada struck the victim with his fist while Torres used a broken glass bottle to cause lacerations to the victim's face. Their bail was set at $300,000 in Kane County bond court, and they are next due in court Dec. 31. The YGS Group provides digital and printed reprint services for Daily Herald. Comment?
