SILVER CITY >> A Silver City man was arrested on Sunday in connection with a stabbing Saturday in a trailer court. Lawrence Montoya Jr., 41, of Silver City was arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a knife, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence, according to a report from the Silver City Police Department. On Sunday, June 21 at about 8:55 p.m. Silver City police officers, Grant County sheriff's deputies and New Mexico State Police responded to a reported shooting near the intersection of N. Swan and 6th streets. Shortly after arriving at the scene, a press release stated, officers were advised that three shooting victims were in the emergency room at Gila Regional Medical Center. A Silver City Police Department officer was dispatched to the 1500 block of Bennett Street on Sunday, May 24 at approximately 10:20 a.m. in reference to a burglary, where the officer made contact with the homeowner. The homeowner, according to a statement of probable cause, advised that she was using the home for storage and is fixing it up, and when she arrived earlier that morning she saw that a padlock on the side door had been broken off and the door was wide open. Comment?

On Sunday, May 24, at about 11:40 p.m. Silver City police officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of North Gold Street in reference to a male who had been shot in the leg. When officers arrived at the address, an incident report stated, they were immediately greeted by a "strong odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the residence," which they continued to detect as they entered the home. Comment?
