The getaway driver in the 2011 armed robbery of the QuickChek on Route 206 in Byram admitted last week to having a role in the crime, the prosecutor's office said. James Smith, 29, of Hopatcong, pleaded guilty in state Superior Court in Newton before Judge Thomas J. Critchley on Aug. 21 to second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery. Comment?

NEWTON - A gang member who served as the getaway driver in a 2011 armed robbery has pleaded guilty to his role in the heist, authorities said. James Smith, 29, of Hopatcong, pleaded guilty last week to second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery for robbing the Quick Chek in Byram on July 12, 2011 with fellow members of the Blood Stone Villain street gang.
