A 38-year-old man with a lengthy criminal record was sentenced Tuesday to nine months in jail for trying to steal a pair of sneakers from the Wal-Mart in Thomaston. The sentence imposed on Andrew H. Pratt was criticized by his attorney, Jeremy Pratt - no relation to his client - who said the judicial system's priorities shockingly were misplaced in this case. Comment?

Berry, who came within 35 votes of being elected to the Rockland City Council last November, has asked the court to seal any documents pertaining to his criminal case and order the removal from the Internet of a BDN article that reported the arrest . A 29-year-old Owls Head man was arrested Sunday evening after police said he tried to break into a locked case filled with electronics at the local Walmart. The suspect, who was carrying knives, had to be physically subdued as officers from around the region responded to assist in the arrest. Comment?

An Owls Head man was arrested on charges of criminal mischief, possession of burglary tools and refusing to submit to arrest after police confronted him trying to pry open an electronics cabinet at Wal-Mart Sunday night. At about 6:50 p.m., Wal-Mart security officers called the police to report that a man was trying to break into an electronics cabinet with a knife. Comment?

A judge rejected a request Thursday to drop charges against an Owls Head man who claims he has been deprived of a speedy trial on charges that date to May 2013. Pointing out that Steven E. Clarke is on his fourth appointed defense attorney, the judge handling the case warned Clarke that the delays and changes in counsel could not go on indefinitely. Comment?
