  • Warrant detail leads to arrests

    Altoona police, along with agents from the state Attorney General's Office and members of the Blair County Drug Task Force fanned out Friday night with arrest warrants for more than two dozen people. According to Altoona police, the warrant detail included suspects wanted for various crimes, including drugs and robbery, and included Altoona police and Attorney General's Office warrants, Blair County Sheriff's Office warrants and warrants for parole and probation violations in Cambria County.

    Parishioners of the seven area churches burglarized and vandalized between October and December 2017 no doubt experienced deepening concern as each month passed without arrests. That concern was justified, considering the commonly held belief that the longer a case remains unsolved, the less likely it will be solved.

Guilty plea entered to charge of possession of drug paraphernalia; other charge was dismissed July 11. Michael W. Elvey II, 31, 3224 Sixth Ave., charged by Altoona police with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property on the 300 block of East Hudson Avenue April 26. Chelsea L. Eger, 18, 1106 14th Ave., charged by UPMC Altoona police with simple assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, stalking, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and one summary traffic violation June 23. Dillon R. Snyder, 30, 187 Grace Road, charged by Altoona police with DUI and six summary traffic violations on the 200 block of East Chestnut Avenue June 9, 2017.
