The town council voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a settlement agreement between the town and the estate of Tiana Notice, who was killed in 2009 by a former boyfriend at her Plainville home. A jury had ordered the town to pay $10 million to Notice's estate because officers were negligent in handling her complaints against her ex-boyfriend, James Carter. Comment?

Relatives of slain Plainville officer Robert Holcomb learned Tuesday that they will have a chance March 25 to challenge the pending July parole granted last month to his killer, an action that took place at a hearing none of the family knew about. Holcomb was 28 in November 1977 when he was fatally shot four times by Gary Castonguay. Comment?

A Plainville mother charged with severely assaulting her 2-month-old son was ordered held on $1.2 million bail after her arraignment Friday in Superior Court. Caitlin Knight, 27, was charged Wednesday with first-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor. Comment?
