PLAINFIELD - The victim of Thursday night's fatal shooting in Plainfield has been identified as Hakeem T. Young, 32, of Plainfield, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Friday. Park said Plainfield patrol units responded to a report of gunshots and rushed to the 900 block of North Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday, where they found Young, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Comment?

A Union County jury has returned guilty verdicts against a Plainfield man who robbed a check cashing store a little more than two years ago. Thomas H. Outland, 48, was convicted on charges of second-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery after several hours of jury deliberation following a two-week trial before state Superior Court Judge Scott J. Moynihan. Comment?

Park. Park said Plainfield patrol units responded to a report of gunshots on the 400 block of West 4th Street just after 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, where they found Major, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A former Union County priest who admitted to NJ Advance Media last year he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy was indicted by a grand jury Wednesday in connection with the assault. Manuel Gallo Espinoza, 52, fled to his native Ecuador in 2003 after his alleged victim, then 15, told another priest and a nun that the clergyman raped him in the rectory of a Plainfield church that year. NORTH PLAINFIELD - A township man has been arrested and charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a minor under the age of 13, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday in a news release. On Monday, the victim's mother reported to North Plainfield police that her child had reportedly been sexually assaulted by Lewis, according to an affidavit. Comment?

A North Plainfield man was arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, Acting Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Acting Chief of Detectives Timothy M. Fitzgerald and North Plainfield Chief of Police William Parenti announced Tuesday. Marvin Lewis, age 25, of U.S. Highway Route 22, North Plainfield was arrested on Monday night at 7 p.m. The victim, identified as being under the age of 13 and known to Lewis, reported Lewis had sexually assaulted the minor in North Plainfield. An unloaded rifle, used in a robbery at CVS last week, was located at a high school baseball field prior to a game, Somerset County Captain Jack Bennett confirmed. The rifle was found by a coach along the fence of the North Plainfield High School's Krausche Field on Thursday, April 21, Bennett said. Comment?
