Kentucky State Police Trooper Taylor Mills stopped James Brooks on Friday, at a pre-approved safety checkpoint on U.S. 25E in Middlesboro for no registration plate, which expired in May. "While speaking with the accused, he was acting extremely nervous," Mills stated in the arrest citation. "When asked why he was acting so nervous he stated he had a firearm under his center seat and that he had prior drug charges in Tennessee. Comment?

A Whitesburg man was jailed on Sunday after he allegedly pushed a large quantity of merchandise out of Walmart without paying for it. Middlesboro City Police Department Officer Jeremiah Johnson arrested Joshua Steven Reeves, 34, on two charges of theft by unlawful taking of property valued over $500 or more but under $10,000. A Bell County Grand Jury has indicted a Harrogate, Tennessee man and woman in a heroin case investigated by Middlesboro Police Department Officer Barry Cowan that occurred in April. Leonard Brown, 44, was indicted on Aug. 10 on charges of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance and excessive windshield/window tinting. Comment?
