The Lake Oswego School District and a former coach have settled a lawsuit for a fraction of the $500,000 sought by a former student who claimed he was assaulted during football practice at Lakeridge High School more than two years ago. Student athlete Marqueese Royster had alleged in legal documents that volunteer assistant coach Michael James Cole punched him during training on Aug. 20, 2013. Comment?

Christopher Kalonji, a 19-year-old Black man from Clackamas County, died last week following what Clackamas County Sheriff's officers described as an eight-hour standoff that began as a mental health crisis intervention. According to a press release from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, two officers are on paid administrative leave after using force last Thursday against Kalonji. Comment?

Clackamas County denies any wrongdoing in the criminal investigation of a former professional soccer player and coach whose child sex abuse trial ended with a swift dismissal . In a written response to a $7.5 million lawsuit from Joseph Leonetti , the county says no laws were broken in the 2013 investigation by sheriff's detectives Patrick Bray and Lisa Shipley, and sergeants Anthony Kollias and Clint Pierce. A woman was arrested in West Linn Wednesday night after she falsely reported her car had been stolen with her four-week old son inside, according to police. Terra Nicole Brandenburg, 31, was driving across the Old Oregon City-West Linn Arch Bridge from Oregon City to West Linn when she collided with the side of the bridge. Comment?

West Linn Police arrested 31 year old Terra Nicole Brandenburg Wednesday night after she falsely reported her car had been stolen with her 4 week old son inside. Ms. Brandenburg was driving across the Arch Bridge from Oregon City to West Linn when she collided with the side of the bridge. Comment?

A citizen panel Wednesday night found that orders given by a police commander and a sergeant for officers to coral and arrest a group of demonstrators during a November 2014 Ferguson protest in downtown Portland were unlawful. The Citizen Review Committee 's 5 to 3 decision, though, came after a tortuous two-and-a-half-hour hearing marked by committee members' exasperation with the city's police accountability process, the Police Bureau's narrow examination of complaints, and the police oversight division's framing of vague allegations for review.
