Harry J. McCarthy, the city police lieutenant charged with child porn, has retired after being on paid administrative leave for nine months. On Aug. 13, McCarthy, 55, of 927 Congress St., Ogdensburg, was charged by state police with promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child and possession of an obscene sexual performance by a child, both felonies. An Ogdensburg man was sentenced to prison Wednesday in St. Lawrence County Court for burglarizing a city bar last year. Jason M. Gilmour, 41, of 431 Belmont Courts, was sentenced to 3½ to 7 years in prison for his May 6 guilty plea to the violent felony of third-degree burglary in a plea deal with the district attorney's office. The Ogdensburg man accused of a felony hate crime for allegedly setting fire to a rainbow-painted bench in front of the First Presbyterian Church was sentenced to probation after pleading to a misdemeanor Friday in St. Lawrence County Court. Francis V.G. Solis, 47, of 233 Proctor Ave., had his April guilty plea to felony third-degree criminal mischief vacated and he pleaded to a reduced count of misdemeanor fourth-degree criminal mischief in a plea deal with prosecutors.
