The State Police said Michael Graff , 29, a deputy in the Pulaski County jail, was taken into custody Monday night as a suspect in sexual assault of a female prisoner. A news release said a 26-year-old inmate being taken alone to the state McPherson Unit prison in Newport was allegedly assaulted by Graff south of Searcy. 1 comment

Prosecuting Attorney Henry Boyce of Newport announced today that Kenneth Dewitt , 67, of Patterson, a former chaplain at the McPherson women's prison in Newport, has pleaded guilty to three counts of third-degree sexual assault and will receive concurrent 10-year prison sentences, with five years suspended, on each count. Dewitt resigned as a chaplain in September 2014 after admitting "an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate [another chaplain]," Boyce said. Comment?
