In 1993, Arturo Rangel was arrested and booked in Fresno County on four counts of "Lewd or Lascivious Acts with a minor under 14 years old" and one count of "annoying or molesting a child under 18 years old," for crimes he committed in 1991 and 1992, according to the Fresno County Sheriff . He plead guilty to those crimes and was set to receive seven years in prison, but before he began serving his time, the judge, Judge Gene Gomes, released Rangel on a "Cruz Waiver," which "allows a defendant to be released from jail so they can address personal matters before they appear at their sentencing hearing." Comment?

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office said 55-year-old Arturo Rangel was arrested in Myrtle Point late last month after failing to appear for a sentencing hearing in 1993. Rangel had pleaded guilty then to four counts of lewd acts with a minor under 14 years old and was released on a Cruz Waiver. Comment?

Arturo Rangel, who fled from Fresno County after he was convicted of molesting a child more than two decades ago, has been captured in Oregon, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said. Rangel, 55, was booked into Fresno County Jail on Friday after he was tracked down in Myrtle Point, a small town southeast of Coos Bay, Ore. Comment?

A man who pleaded guilty to sex crimes involving a child under 14 in California back in 1993 only to skip town has been captured in Coos County Oregon, the Fresno County, California, Sheriff's Office says. Deputies booked Arturo Rangel, 55, into the Fresno County Jail on felony charges Friday. Comment?
