I was arrested in Lake County, CA for suspicion of driving under the influence. They gave me a hearing date when they released me for 6 weeks later. When I went to the hearing at that time, I wasn't on the roster or in the clerk's system. So I left and came back home to Portland, OR.
5 months later my old roommates tell me I have some mail. I check it and there's a notice to appear at court in California in 4 days that they sent to the address I explicitly told them I no longer lived at.
I have no means of getting to California in the near-to-far future and I'm wondering if the hearing can be moved to Oregon. I faxed them essentially the same question as I opened the letter one hour after they close at 1pm for the weekend, but I'm hoping to get some answers sooner. Thank you.

I received my first DUI a few days ago, in Oregon (I currently live in DC). I am scheduled to move abroad for a very important job that will be 6-months long. This is a huge opportunity and failing to move abroad for this job will substantially ruin my career. I am willing to plead guilty and enter the diversion program - but I need to leave the country in 2-weeks or will loose this opportunity and crush my career. Is it possible the judge could lift probation for traveling and I could complete these classes starting in 6-months. I will not be operating a vehicle in Africa - I will not even have electricity.
