Elmhurst Road, was robbed just after noon on Monday, police said, by a single black male who entered the bank, approached a teller window and grabbed an undisclosed amount of money while the teller was counting money. Federal agents seized more than 4,350 counterfeit jerseys, caps and other souvenirs as part of a crackdown during the Stanley Cup Final and Thursday's victory celebration, authorities said Friday. The law enforcement initiative, codenamed Operation Team Player, largely targeted illegal vendors selling near the United Center and Amalie Arena, the home of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Comment?

A convicted murder already serving a 26-year sentence will serve another 20 years behind bars after he admitted Thursday to trying to have a witness against him killed. Edwin Paniagua, 20, was convicted of murder last year for the 2010 stabbing and robbery of Jean Louis Wattecamps in his Mount Prospect apartment, according to the Cook County state's attorney's office. A 33-year-old Mount Prospect man was ordered held on a total bail of $4.2 million Friday on charges he sexually abused a young girl for more than four years when she was between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. Martin Rubio-Lopez, of the 1700 block of Mansard Lane, is charged with six counts of predatory criminal sexual assault. Comment?

A northwest suburban woman who tried to spruce up her yard with flowers the easy way - by stealing potted plants from other people's homes - is facing theft charges after police say that caught her "green-handed." About 2:40 a.m. May 27, a Mount Prospect police sergeant saw a vehicle going eastbound on Golf Road without its headlights on, and pulled it over for the traffic violation, a statement from police said.
