A Fitchburg man being held on suspicion of three armed robberies in Fitchburg in mid January was arraigned in District Court Monday for an additional three robberies in neighboring Leominster, according to court documents. Zackery R. Barnes, 26, of 40 Fitch Hill Ave., was arraigned on two counts of armed and masked robbery, as well as assault with a dangerous weapon, attempting to commit a crime, and armed assault to rob, according to court documents. A local panhandler arrested for stealing a woman's pocketbook outside a Leominster supermarket in June was arraigned in district court Wednesday. Matthew W. Donahue, 27, of 342 St. Joseph Ave., Fitchburg was charged with unarmed robbery and assault and battery on someone disabled or over the age of 60. A warrant for Donahue's arrest was issued after a June 8 incident, in which he allegedly stole the purse of a woman exiting from the Shaw's Supermarket at Water Tower Plaza. Comment?
