  • Sex sting nets two county men

    A Salem man who teaches at an elementary school and was last month hired as an assistant varsity football coach in Leetonia was one of the dozen people arrested in an undercover sex sting this week following a three-day investigation. According to reports from WKBN 27 First News, James Norkus, 24, of Salem, was charged with importuning, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, and possession of criminal tools.

  • Troopers look for driver who ran from Leetonia crash

    The Ohio State Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of a pickup truck that flipped over in Leetonia early Labor Day. Troopers say they were called to Lisbon Road near Jacob Logtown Road after midnight where they found a Dodge Ram Truck on its roof.

  • Municipal Court

    In county Municipal Court, a second pretrial was scheduled for Nov. 19 for John K. McGuire, 56, Fairview Place, Beloit, who is charged with theft for allegedly stealing a money clip from the body of a deceased accident victim in June. A fireman reportedly saw McGuire take the money clip from Melvin Bricker's pocket and placed it in his own.

    The man said he was fine and just needed help getting up, but an ambulance crew was summoned to check him. -Jeri Stanley, South Lincoln Avenue, reported Aug. 10 a metal frog and shepherd's hook with a plant were stolen from her property.
