    A Salem man was sentenced to the county jail after he was found to have violated his probation on domestic violence charges from 2015. Dakota B. Santee, 24, New Garden Avenue, was sentenced to 30 days in jail by Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge Scott Washam during a probation violation hearing this week.

    Petersen reportedly threatened to harm his mother, Gail Petersen; his grandmother, Sara Crawford and his grandfather, William Crawford, before grabbing his mother's arm, bruising her and tearing the watch off her wrist. Additionally, Petersen allegedly took his mother's car keys, attempted to steal her car, stole her cell phone, destroyed the landline phone and attempted to locate the gun cabinet keys.

    An Oct. 29 preliminary hearing was set in Columbiana County Municipal Court for Kaid D. Todd, 28, North Main, Columbiana, charged with burglary for allegedly entering his mother's home on Chestnut Street, Leetonia, without permission in order to commit a theft on Oct. 8 and 9. Albert M. White, 18, state Route 170, East Palestine, pleaded guilty to arson for setting fire to a small building holding equipment at the East Palestine Girls Softball Association fields on Brookdale Avenue in Unity Township on Aug. 14. White was treated for burns he suffered committing the offense. Sentencing is set for Nov. 13. A Nov. 15 pretrial was set for Ronald L. Lodge, 26, Canfield, cited with OVI second offense and failure to control.

    In Columbiana County Municipal Court, Matthew E. Marshall, 18, Somer Street, Leetonia, was bound over to the Columbiana County Common Pleas Court grand jury on charges of burglary, theft and obstructing official business for allegedly using a code on a key pad to enter the home of Rebecca Brown on Aug. 23 while her son was sleeping and taking an X-box game and cell phone from the bedroom. Marshall then allegedly filed a false report with police regarding the stolen X-box.
