What's the worst case scenario?
Ok. Was in an accident. Received an owi a few months later on paper. Was never arrested. I did go to the hospital. But was not truly injured. I've been looking up the state laws. My license can be suspended for 180 days I know that. I know I can serve anywhere up to 2 days to 1 year. I didn't receive a ticket. I decided to cooperate to hopefully make things a little easier on my self. I have a court date coming up. I'm currently a full time student. This is the first thing to go on my record. What are the chances of me being arrested after the trial. I'm just so concerned bout school.
Good question. I am not licensed in Iowa, so I would defer to the answer of any experienced DUI attorney who regularly...
Will moving to IL from Iowa effect my time remaining to receive a drivers License.
I am serving a 6 year suspension for a 3rd offense OWI in Iowa. I have completed everything but time. Will IL make me wait 10 years instead of 6 if I move to that state? Or if I stay in Iowa and receive a valid license will it be valid in IL? I know they have different rules.
Usually, the sentence goes with the state that issued it - meaning your 6 year suspension goes with your Iowa license...
Can I get a driver's license in Minnesota if I have a restricted drivers license in the state of Iowa from duis?
Last dui I had in Iowa was in 2011. I have a restricted drivers license with a breathalyzer in my car.
Due to the interstate compact, it is unlikely (read likely impossible) that you will be able to receive an unmodified...
If my ex goes to jail for dui, no insurance, 3 counts of child endangerment etc, can I get granted custody of my children
I have 2 minor children (10 & 13) living with custodial parent (mother) in Illinois. My wife and I live in Iowa. Our court order is joint custody, thru the Iowa courts. I am granted 'liberal visitation'..every other weekend and wed afternoons. She did not inform me of her arrest and subseq charges. We have had many problems with information, education, medical etc relating to our children. Her current boyfriend and mother may assume responsibility for minor children in her absence. We've already had many problems w/ custody agreements (mostly through her obstruction) what would be the best way to assume custody? an emergency ex parti? or do we just not release them after she has been taken into custody by st of IL? I would like to have a permanent solution for the stability of the children
You have a lot of good arguments on your side. Best way to present them to the court that can make the orders you...
I was approved for advance parole to travel to mexico but i got an DUi over the weekend. Can i still go and return safely ?
i want to be able to return to the country. I got an DUI but I don't have to go to court until mid april by two 2 courts are cover.
You may have an obligation to inform your parole officer of the arrest. This may effect your eligibility to travel at all.
I had an OWI deferred and I was told it would not be on my record. It is still on my record. Why? 1st offense.
I live in Iowa I was pulled over in 2009 and blew 0.123. Since it was my 1st offense, it was deferred and in court I was told it would not appear on my record and I should not mention it to future employers. I recently applied to a company where I would need to be insured to drive. I was unable to get insured and when I looked up my driving record, I saw that the OWI was on there. How do I go about removing it?
The DUI is expunged from your criminal record, but the test failure and record of the conviction will remain on your...
