A woman told police Saturday that she and Ezequiel Toro-Roman got into an argument as they were leaving a restaurant in the 4100 block of West Vernon Avenue around 9 p.m. " reported that the suspect tried to push her into the vehicle," Kinston Police Department spokesman Woody Spencer said. Around 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, an officer noticed a man on a scooter who allegedly ran a stop sign on Water Street going around 20 mph, displaying what appeared to be expired and later determined to be a fictitious license plate. "An officer approached Cox, who was on a moped traveling north from Water Street, on Clay Street," said Kinston Police Department Spokesman Woody Spencer. Comment?

Sunday, the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office arrested a man allegedly in possession of a significant amount of marijuana and cocaine. According to the magistrate's order for arrest, an LCSO deputy, with the assistance of a state trooper, found Emmanuel Ramon Sutton with around 7.6 grams of cocaine and a little more than 7.4 ounces of marijuana in a 1990 Buick. Police responded to the 600 block of Lotus Place around 7:18 p.m. Monday to a suspicious person call. "The officer was able to locate the suspect at the address listed above, a vacant residence, and the owners stay out of town," Kinston Police Department spokesman Woody Spencer said. Comment?

A man judged not guilty of charges stemming from a March 2015 alleged assault was back in court this week on two new felony obstruction of justice counts. During the trial of 34-year-old Allen Devon Lewis, the prosecution played in court recordings of calls made to the victim in the case, Shirnika Rhem, in which he promised to do things like pay for her utility bills once he got out of jail and asked her to be on his side in the matter. Police responded to a call at Club Climax in the 1300 block of U.S. 258 South regarding a man with a rifle near a black 2005 Cadillac DeVille and another person with a shotgun.
