Jason Hutchins, 36, of the 17000 block of Orchard Ridge Avenue, Hazel Crest, was arrested and charged with retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after being accused of shoplifting $97.96 worth of whiskey from Jewel, 3153 W. 183rd St., according to Homewood police reports. Justin Florence, 25, of the 19000 block of Center Avenue, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving without insurance and failing to slow down to avoid an accident after a Jan. 23 crash, according to a Homewood police report. Frederick Collins, 54, of the 500 block of Forsythe Avenue, Calumet City, was arrested and charged with felony theft after being accused of stealing $15 from an open cash register, according to Homewood police reports. A closed-circuit video at Duo's Nearly Nu Shop, 2015 Ridge Road, showed Collins reaching over the store's front glass counter, reaching into the open cash register drawer and taking three $5 bills, the report stated. Angela Johnson, 40, of the 16200 block of Wolcott Avenue, Markham, was arrested and charged with retail theft after being accused of shoplifting more than $150 worth of merchandise Jan. 11 from Walgreens, according to Homewood police reports. Police responded to a report at about 2:58 p.m. that said Johnson had placed items from Walgreens, 820 W. 183rd St., into a pink bag and then left the store, the report stated. 1 comment

Daron Roberts, 46, of the 14800 block of Atlantic Avenue, Dolton, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of open alcohol and failure to signal after a Jan. 5 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports. Police pulled over Roberts at about 2:20 a.m. for failing to signal a turn at the intersection of Governors Highway and 183rd Street and for swerving in and out of his lane, the report stated.
