Three Illinois residents driving on Interstate 70 with more than four pounds of cocaine hidden in a false compartment in the dash appeared before a Mesa County judge Tuesday on felony drug charges. Eric W. Boatman, 24, and Ariyana C. Noland, 19, both of Harvey, Illinois, and 20-year-old Joselynn Meekol Hall of Bloomington, Illinois, each face a single felony charge of drug possession with intent to distribute that with conviction carries a mandatory prison sentence. A Harvey, Illinois man pleaded guilty today to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft charges related to a scheme to obtain fraudulent tax refunds using stolen ID information, announced Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General Stuart M. Goldberg of the Justice Department's Tax Division and U.S. Attorney Zachary T. Fardon of the Northern District of Illinois. from November 2014 through March 2015, Jonathan Herring, 34, working with at least two others, prepared and filed income tax returns using stolen names and social security numbers, and deposited the fraudulently obtained tax refunds into bank accounts that he controlled. Smyles, 24, of Harvey, Ill., is one of two men facing charges in the October 2015 kidnapping and torture of a Burlington man. The FBI arrested Smyles in September following a tip about his whereabouts. Comment?
