Is my boyfriend being charged with a misdemeanor if he didn't have to sign any paperwork at the scene?
He got pulled over and the police officer smelled marajuana. He admitted to having a small amount and gave it to them. They also made him do a series of tests and deemed him unsuitable to drive so I had to pick him up. He didn't know if he was being charged. The officer didn't give him details but said he could or would be charged and could have his license suspended for a year. Should he have signed something or is he going to receive something in the mail?
Contact a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. He will likely be receiving something in the mail regarding...
Do I need a lawyer for a mip in Ohio? First offense
I was at contra concert and an undercover cop got me for an underage. I was compliable until I was told they were taking me to the hospital against my will and without my mothers consent bc they thought I was drugged. Should I get a lawyer & what are the possible outcomes for this case...? Probation, revoked license?
Yes you should retain an attorney - one experienced in criminal defense and familiar with the court where you were...
After being charged with a DUI, The officer did not fill out my license suspension.
I went the the BMV and ordered a new plastic license and nothing popped up. I am wondering if I should be driving.
You should consult with an attorney. After confidentially providing all of the details, they can best advise you on how...
Attorney Violates Code Of Ethics, No Legal Repurcussions?
If an licensed attorney violates the Code of Professional Responsibility, and as the result of this, they influenced a case. According the the OSBA, this could lead to infractions or disciplinary hearings involving the lawyer, where they can be sanctioned, or have there law license suspended. However, it also states that whatever the results of there investigation, it will NOT affect a case. How is this so? If an attorney willfully does something they are not supposed to do, and they directly had an impact on the case, why can't the disciplinary process recommend actions to take place on the case, instead of bringing an Appeal to the State Courts? We are dealing in 2 areas here, one is that the lawyer has to abide by there code of ethics, and two, as a result of this, no common legal error can be asserted in state courts. This makes absolutely no sense at all.
If an attorney violated the Code of Ethics make a complaint to the local bar. If it affected your case then speak to...
What should I expect for my second offense OVI probation in Columbus OH
I was recently convicted with two OVIs within a few months of each other. I just got the hearing results for the second one in Wadsworth and I was put on probation in that city for a year following the offense. I am not required to physically report to them since I live 2 hours away in Columbus; however, I am required to report to my Columbus PO and have an interlock device installed. This isn't a set schedule as of now and it ends in June. My question is if I was not charged for any drug offenses, would I be subject to a drug test in addition to the alcohol test or would I just be subject to the alcohol test?
It is common practice the during any term of probation in Ohio that the probationer is prohibited from using alcohol...
Should I expect to be contacted by the authorities for DUI suspicion?
I was driving home from a wedding and road conditions were bad. My vehicle slid off the road after hitting a patch of ice. There was no major property damage (nothing was hit in the accident and the only "damage" was the tire tracks and ruts left in the ditch). The tire tracks were as deep as 6 inches in spots where I had tried to get the vehicle out and they ran about 20-30ft. There was standing water due to there being so much drainage. I stayed with the vehicle for up to an hour and called in to AAA who told me the tow truck would not be able to make it until the next morning. Due to temperatures being below freezing, I left the scene and taxi'd home. A witness did stop and ask if I needed assistance but I don't know if they called the accident in. At this point I was frantic and seemed panicked. I did not call the accident in to police. At the wedding I had done some drinking (3 drinks over the course of 2 hours). I retrieved the car the next day with the help of AAA and have not heard from police. There was no damage to the car, myself, anyone else, or any signage. Would they be able to contact me for suspicion of DUI? There were no tickets on the vehicle the next day.
Either way, best not to make any statements without representation
Isn't it illegal for a doctor to order very expensive lab tests before discussing the cost with the patient?
I went to a doctor for fatigue and found out from an inexpensive lab test that I had low T. In order to get a Low T treatment he said I would have to repeat the test. So I agreed. The problem is that he ordered a lot more labs then what I thought I was getting and there was a difference between 187 dollars and the new tests were over $2,000.00 and he never discussed the amount with me. On top of that he coded it wrong with the insurance company who denied the claim and here I am stuck with their deceptive bill which may hurt my credit since it is over 90 days since the billing which we have been disputing.
This got put into the DUI section, which is not where it belongs. Re-post as healthcare law or consumer protection. My...
