Dispatchers were called at 1:44 a.m. on Saturday regarding a stabbing at DJ's Bar, 724 E. Ocean Ave. "Once on scene officers discovered that a male victim was stabbed multiple times causing a portion of his intestine to be exposed," police said. Detectives investigating the incident learned Arias had fought the victim. Comment?

The sentencing hearing for a teenage girl convicted of murder in the death of her newborn baby last year is planned for Jan. 11 in Santa Maria Juvenile Court. Now 16 years old, Maribel S. as she is called in court due to her age, was found guilty of second-degree murder in October at the end of a trial before Judge Arthur Garcia. Comment?

The Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department has added lighting and removed benches and vegetation to fight "misuse" at Plaza de Vera Cruz Park, which stretches between East Cota and East Haley streets in the 100 block. Locals often refer to the facility as "Needle Park." Comment?

This holiday season, the Goleta Police Department will be out looking for drunk & drugged drivers as part of a special year-end Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement mobilization. "Beginning December 16 and continuing into the New Year, you will see stepped up enforcement watching closely for anyone who is driving impaired," said Lieutenant Kevin Huddle, Chief of Police Services for the City of Goleta. Nicolas Holzer was arrested after allegedly calling 9-1-1 on Aug. 11, 2014, to report he had murdered his family in the residence on the 600 block of Walnut Park Lane. Responding deputies found four bodies with multiple stab wounds, and the victims were identified as William Charles Holzer, 73, Sheila Gerard Holzer, 74, Sebastian Holzer, 13, and Vincent Holzer, 10. A criminal grand jury indicted Holzer for four murder counts, and he has entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. Comment?

A Goleta man was sentenced to three years of felony probation Tuesday after being charged with animal cruelty for allegedly fatally injuring his newly adopted dog. Kyle Barbre, 21, pled no contest to charges on Tuesday. Comment?

On Friday, December 9, 2016, at approximately 5:00 p.m. Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies responded to a mobile home park in the 7400 block of Hollister Avenue in Goleta to a report of a male subject in his underwear who was demonstrating erratic and violent behavior. Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene and identified the subject as being 43-year-old Thomas Brostromrich, a resident at the mobile home park. Comment?

A 43-year-old Goleta man has been arrested in the alleged stalking of a 13-year-old girl, and is facing a litany of other charges, as well, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department . Thomas Brostromrich faces charges of stalking, burglary, battery, brandishing a weapon other than a firearm, theft of a skateboard, resisting arrest, obstructing and delaying a police officer, assault on a peace officer and resisting an executive officer through force, violence or fear, sheriff's spokeswoman Kelly Hoover said.
