The Statham woman police had identified as a suspect in the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars from Carriage Nissan in Gainesville apparently killed herself Thursday as deputies attempted to deliver an arrest warrant. Gainesville police confirmed that they launched an investigation into a possible embezzlement by an employee of the Browns Bridge Road dealership on Jan. 18. The suspect, Belen Rubio, 57, of Statham, was formerly listed on the Carriage Nissan website as the controller. Comment?

Terry Paul Stancil, 18, and Christian Allen Kirk, 18, both of Gainesville, and Curtis Michael Potter, 30, of Memphis, Tenn., were arrested and charged Friday with entering autos and second-degree burglary. While Hall County residents prepared for snow, one homeowner Friday morning in the Chestatee area reported seeing three men entering a car. Comment?

A North Forsyth teenager was shot in the stomach Saturday afternoon while he and his father cleaned a gun that accidentally discharged, officials said. The 18-year-old was standing next to his father as the 42-year-old cleaned the Smith & Wesson .40 pistol, according to Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
