The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested 31-year-old James Michael Smith, Jr., and charged him with murder, aggravated assault, and cruelty to children in the first degree, in the death of two-year-old Parker Bledsoe, on June 11. Smith called 911, but Bledsoe was pronounced dead at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida less than 24 hours after he was found unresponsive. An autopsy was performed on Bledsoe on June 15 at the state crime lab in Atlanta. Comment?

A man suspected of burglarizing 20 Gainesville businesses last week was arrested Wednesday afternoon by the Bay County Sheriff's Office. Dwayne Bruce Officer, 43, of Panama City Beach was arrested after Bay County officials served a search warrant on his home and found the shirt worn by the suspect in a surveillance video, according to the Gainesville Police Department .
