Police and prosecutors haven't revealed their reasoning, but the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office in a statement Monday said they won't charge a Farmington Hills woman who shot and killed her son during a domestic disturbance early last Wednesday. Police did indicate the 43-year-old woman fired on her son, who did not live in the residence, to protect herself and others. Comment?

A man who is set to stand trial for allegedly killing another man with a punch has been arrested on the suspicion of drunken driving in Redford Township. Dante Nederveld, 37, is charged with manslaughter after allegedly punching Matthew Lee Wegzyn, 52, on Aug. 9 while Wegzyn was talking to police about a complaint he had regarding Nederveld's driving in the Flamingo mobile home park -- where they both lived -- in Farmington Hills.
