    Family members of Osha Carter cried in relief as the Toledo man was pronounced not guilty Friday in the shooting death of Marcus Osley outside a downtown strip club last year. Mr. Carter, 22, of the 300 block of Pinewood Avenue, was acquitted on all charges: murder and discharge of a firearm over a public road or highway, both with firearm specifications, in the Aug. 21, 2014, death of Mr. Osley, 28, of Toledo.

Twenty-six-year-old Jameele Williams and 29-year-old Keith Horton are charged in the Nov. 22 death of Arbie Wilson Jr. Prosecutors allege that a fight during a party at the lounge at the Downtown Erie Hotel spilled outside, and the two pursued Wilson and killed him in the drive-thru lane of a closed bank.

    Gunfire was reported on the city's east side late Thursday following a benefit at an Erie nightclub for Vante Husband, who was fatally shot on Aug. 21. Six gunshots were reported shortly after 9:20 p.m. in an alley behind the Metroplex, 1837 Buffalo Road, according to Erie County 911 dispatchers.

  • Judge temporarily closes troubled Erie bar

    District Attorney Jack Daneri sought the rare closure because, according to court records, the homicide and other problems had turned the bar into a "public nuisance" that jeopardizes "the lives and safety, public health, welfare and good order of the neighborhood and the surrounding community." Erie police padlocked the doors of the Up the Way at about 9:40 a.m. today, an hour after Cunningham's office filed his order, which he signed on Thursday.

    Erie police charge that a city man too young to drink in an eastside tavern that witnesses said he had frequented in the past stood outside the tavern with a gun in his hand, then raised it and fired it into the front door early Friday morning. Investigators searched Friday for the accused shooter, 19-year-old Jamee T. Husband, who faces charges of homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering and possessing an instrument of crime in the death of Vante Husband, 23. Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook ruled Vante Husband's death a homicide, due to a gunshot wound to the chest.

Cook ruled the death of 23-year-old Vante Husband a homicide, the 10th in Erie this year and the seventh in which the victim was killed by gunfire.

    Erie police said surveillance video, witness information and recognition by patrol officers led investigators to identify a 19-year-old man as the person accused of fatally shooting another man at an eastside tavern early this morning. Jamee T. Husband is wanted on charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering and possessing instruments of crime in the fatal shooting of Vante Husband, 23, at Up The Way Bar & Grill, 726 E. 26th St. The shooting was reported to police at 12:22 a.m. Vante Husband was found dead in the doorway of the tavern after officers who responded to the shooting encountered a large crowd at the door and cleared the crowd away.

    Court hearings were delayed this morning for three men charged with retaliating against a witness in an Erie homicide trial after the victim did not appear for the hearings. Prosecutors asked Erie 3rd Ward District Judge Tom Carney for a continuance in the cases against Todd C. Wiley, 19, Kayzon H. Phillips, 24, and Marquis L. Barnes, 24. The three were scheduled to appear in court for their preliminary hearings this morning.

had an accident hit 3 parked cars nobody including self was injured, was asked to take bac refused was put in drunk tank released in morning was given no citation. i turned it in to insurance next day vehicles have been paid for. penndot suspending license for refusal for 18 months received that a month after accident. on the 18th of june it will be 2 months i still have not received anything from police, the morning i was released they had me sign something that said suspicion of marijuna but my rolling papers and rolling machine were left in car.
