A Bladen County woman has been arrested and charged with fraud in connection with an incident at a local grocery store. According to Police Chief Bobby Kinlaw, officers were called to the Food Lion on West Broad Street on Wednesday, April 29, at about 3 p.m. to investigate several stolen checks that had been passed. Comment?

The grandson of a woman murdered in 1976 has been charged with assaulting a WRAL cameraman who was filming footage at the site of her murder and her daughter's. Donald Hales, 67, was charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury after he allegedly attacked Jay Jennings, 57, of Cary at about 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Comment?

Donald Hales, a grandson of Josephine Davis, one of the women murdered in 1976 along with her daughter Ailene Davis, was arrested and charged on Tuesday with assaulting a WRAL cameraman who was filming footage at the site of the grisly murders. Hales, 67, was charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury after he attacked Jay Jennings, 57, of Cary at about 2 p.m. Hales was given a $50,000 secured bond and placed under house arrest by Magistrate David Simmons. According to the Horry County Police Department, 35-year-old Wilford Davis of Elizabethtown, NC was arrested in connection to the domestic dispute. HCPD officers responded to a residence on Ware Drive in Nichols around 6:45 p.m. Thursday. Comment?
