  • State police shooting probes lack objectivity

Wednesday Jan 10 | via The Citizens' Voice

State police spokesman Ryan Tarkowski undoubtedly was correct when he told the Associated Press this week that "the department has a breadth and depth of resources available 24 hours a day, seven days a week that is unsurpassed by any other law enforcement agency in the commonwealth." Yet the department lacks the resources it most needs when it investigates its own troopers' use of force: independence and objectivity.

On Tuesday, Jan 2, a grand jury in Easton released a scathing report saying the "arrogant" Pennsylvania State Police should stop investigating shootings by its own troopers to ensure that such probes are transparent and "free from potential bias." The grand jury then urged Wolf to force the agency to step aside and allow for an independent investigation when a shooting involves one of its own, citing a national climate of "distrust of law enforcement" over police shootings.

How long does it usually take to be charged with a DUI?
I got pulled over for speeding in a work zone, ended up getting arrested for a DUI. Went to the hospital for blood work and then to the barracks for my fingerprints and picture, then let go. It's been almost a month and still haven't received anything in the mail. The arresting officer did not give me any type of paperwork. Do I just sit and wait to see if charges are being filed?
Pretty much. A month or two isnt unusual as the state labs bog down this type of year. You can check the public...
What can I do if I was given a dui, when I was not in the vehicle.
I had been arrested inside a hotel while my car was outside in a parking lot. The cops assumed that I was still under the influence of weed and decided to go search my vehicle, and also charge me with dui/duid since I must have driven to the hotel under the influence. I had smoked the day before and a few hours prior the day of, but when I was driving and when I was in the hotel, I was not under the influence. I was then taken to a local hospital about an hour-hour and a half after I got arrested initially to get blood work done. What can be done from this point on. I am a young college student, with no prior arrests or convictions. This was the first time I got arrested.
What can you do if you were charged with a crime, such as DUI??? The thing to do is call is to your parents. After...

Certainly without a blood or breath test there is a path to having your DUI charge dismissed. However the lack of such...
Technically speaking, is "adjudication withheld" in the ARD process for a DUI in Pennsylvania?
Over ten years ago I entered and successfully completed an ARD program for a DUI offense in Pennsylvania, and all records have been sealed/expunged as proscribed by the ARD process. I've been asked by a non-state entity if I was ever convicted of, plead guilty or no contest to anything other than a minor traffic offense. I am being asked to include all misdemeanors and felonies, "even if the court withheld adjudication so that you would not have a record of conviction. " I am just having trouble determining if the ARD process works in the way the quoted statement describes.
If the expungement was done correctly, and if it has been over 10 years since you were admitted into the ARD program,...
