A federal appeals court has upheld the conviction and 12-year prison sentence of a former Choctaw Nation construction director. A three-judge panel of the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied a motion for a mistrial Tuesday sought by Jason Merida, who was convicted in November 2014 on two counts each of theft and tax fraud and one count each of conspiracy to commit money laundering and conspiracy to commit bribery. Comment?

Jeffery Dewayne Bully, 45, formerly of 1010 Bracket Ridge Road, Chatsworth, was sentenced Thursday to serve four life sentences without the possibility of parole, three of which were ordered to be served consecutively plus an additional 50 years by Superior Court Judge Cindy Morris. Comment?

A Mead man is accused of manslaughter in the death of a child killed last year by an all terrain vehicle. Thirty-four-year-old Steven E. Matlock is charged with first-degree manslaughter for an accident that killed 19-month-old Kayson Black last year. Comment?
