Buying a house with DUI while on H1B
Hi, I had a DUI 2 years back and am done with everything and the case is closed now. Now with the new administration's executive order, will this single DUI be a deportable offense? I am here on legal visa (H1B) and now, I am planning to buy a house. Is it advisable to buy a house now or wait for some time? Will the deportation be applicable for legal immigrants as well?
Initially DUIs were considered crimes of violence and were therefore considered aggravated felonies for purposes of...

Can I apply for a Hardship License?
My license have been suspended due to someone causing a accident in my car and it was not insured. I did not know anything about them driving the car while I was out of town. I now have a 82,000 dollar judgement against me and my license is suspended. I read about a financial hardship license in michigan. (not sure exactly what it is called) Am I eligible to apply for that. I read it was a restricted license of some sort. I am trying to find ways to be able to get my license back, cause a $82,000 judgement is way out of my budget.
In order to fully answer your question you need to obtain and provide a copy of your historical driving record to an...
Can you legally refuse the Field Sobriety Tests in Michigan?
A topic at work keeps being brought up. Half the staff says you have no choice when it comes to taking FST's in Michigan, and the other half says you have the right to refuse. I am of the group that says to NEVER take a Field Sobriety Test because I believe it to be questioning and I have a right to counsel before questioning as well as a right to remain silent and not incriminate myself. Is there a law in Michigan that says you MUST submit to FST's? Thanks so much for helping to settle the argument. P.S. I understand being required to blow in the breathalyzer at the station, or submit blood after being arrested, so I wasnt referring to those.
The legal answer is that you do not have to take any tests and you do not have to answer any questions on the grounds...
What are statute of limitation laws
I have 1 DUI charge, and was stopped a second time after my probation was over. It has been a year and a half since my arrest and I still have not been charged as far as I'm aware. My license was suspended for a year by secretary of state, for refusing a roadside test. This suspension concluded in June. I'm wondering if I can get my license, and if I do will this bring charges? Is this long to not be charged common?
A year and a half is an unusually long time, although technically well within the statute.. Trying to get a license at...
Will a pending DUI that I got in New York show up on a MVR?
I am a Michigan driver that recently got a DUI (which is being reduced to a DUAI) in New York. I pleaded not guilty and I have not been charged yet. I'm now back in Michigan and getting a job that requires a MVR. Will the pending charge from another state show up on my report already?
Not while its pending, only under conviction. However, NY may send a notice to the SOS that you were arrested, but i...
