A man who fled from a car during a traffic stop, sparking a brief manhunt, was arrested Tuesday in Baton Rouge. Brady Jones Jr., 19, of Denham Springs, faces counts of aggravated flight from an officer, no seat belt, driving with a suspended license, as well as outstanding warrants from the Denham Springs Police Department, said State Police spokesman Trooper First Class Bryan Lee. Louisiana State Police said that a trooper tried to pull 19-year-old Brady Jones Jr., of Denham Springs, over for a traffic violation around Greenwell Street in Baton Rouge. Jones did not stop and fled from troops, eventually hopping out of the vehicle and trying to make a run for it. Comment?

Two men have been arrested, and a third is being sought, in a Tuesday shooting north of Denham Springs, the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office reported Thursday. A Denham Springs man's attorney claims his client is being prosecuted more harshly that two other men charged in separate fatal heroin overdoses in East Baton Rouge Parish, and he's subpoenaed the autopsy findings from those cases to try to prove his point. Jarret McCasland, 26, is scheduled to stand trial Nov. 16 on a second-degree murder charge in the 2013 heroin overdose death of his girlfriend, Flavia Cardenas. Comment?

A Denham Springs man on trial for shooting a Walker man and dumping the body into the Blind River Canal was convicted of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice by a Livingston Parish jury Friday. Joshua Mitchell, 26, pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and not guilty by reason of insanity to the obstruction charge, said Autumn Payton, spokeswoman for the 21st Judicial District Attorney's office.
